SPRING CITY, TN – Mountain View Raceway will present the $2,000-to-win $100-to-start King of the Crates Race on August 27 for Late Models powered by Chevrolet Performance 604 and 602 “Crate” Engines. Along with the generous payout of the 40-lap Feature Race, there will also be several Bonus Awards up for grabs.

There will be a $200 Bonus for the highest finishing 602 Engine, and the second highest finishing 602 Engine will receive a $100 Bonus from Phillips Racing. The Fast Qualifier for the King of the Crates Race will receive a $100 Bonus from J2 Graphics. There is also a proposed $1,000 in Lap Prizes for the 40-lap Feature Race at $25 a lap. That makes for a possible $3,000-to-win!!

Lap Sponsorships can also be purchased this Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway at the Main Concession Stand, or at the Scale House in the Pit Area.

The 604 Engines will run under the Crate Racin’ USA rules and sealing requirements. The 602 Engines will run under the Red Clay 602 Series rules and sealing requirements. The economical 604 and 602 Crate Engines are produced by Chevrolet Performance. The numbers 604 and 602 represent the Chevrolet part number of the engine and they’re available at Chevrolet dealers across the country. The “Crate” name is from the wooden shipping containers used to deliver the engine to the customers.

The Chevrolet Performance 604 Engine is a 400 horsepower aluminum head steel block engine, and the Chevrolet Performance 602 Engine is a 350 horsepower steel head steel block engine. Both engines are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.

Along with the Crate Late Models, the Mountain View Raceway Sportsman, Open-Wheel Modified, Thunder, Front-Wheel-Drive, and Junior Front-Wheel-Drive Divisions will be in action on the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval with Weekly Point Races.

On Saturday night July 27, the Pit Gate opens at 3 p.m. and the Grandstand and Tier Parking Gates open at 4 p.m. The Mandatory Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:15 p.m. and Hot Laps are scheduled for 6:45 p.m.

For this Special Event, Pit Passes are $30 for Adults, $15 for Children 6-11, and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. The General Admission and Tier Parking ticket prices are $15 for race fans 12 and older, Children 6-11 are $5, and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. All Children must be accompanied by an Adult.
